So while listening to Pandora Radio (pandora.com), an AWESOME site by the way, I've come to the realization when Manowar came up on the playlist:

Dragonforce is Manowar Lite.

Both bands play ridiculous power metal,
Both bands only sing about glory and honor,
The reason that Dragonforce is Manowar Lite is because in Manowar's songs, the fighters die and go to Valhalla, and in Dragonforce's songs, the fighters succeed.

A bit of a break from lesson plans, cause this has been on my mind.

So I've been doing alot of thinking about the movie BLADE RUNNER.

There is a strong emphasis in the movie as to "what" a human is, so there is no real question as to whether Deckard is human or replicant, because the line becomes blurred. If Tyrell has been able to develop a Nexxus 7 or 8 line of replicants that outlive the four years, and they can implant memories into them, then they are human.

It gets wierd. Did the Tyrell corporation build a Deckard replicant? if so, where did the memories come from? We know that they can transfer memories from people into a replicant, so is there a "real" Deckard out there? It seems, to me anyway, that the movie kind of says that it is memories that make us what we are.

Is it our memories and experiences that make us human, or is it all the naturally occuring fleshy bits that make us human? Could we develop a machine that becomes so close to natural that there is virtually no difference?

MP3 Player Question

So I've been looking online for a couple of weeks now and for most of the summer i've been saving up to buy an MP3 player. But the question still lingers: What kind should I get?

IPod seems to be really good, i like the interface and the size.
Zunes have really good storage space, but they're a tad expensive.

anyone have any reccomendations or other brands?

WALL-E

WALL-E is undeniably Pixar's, and perhaps one of Disney's, best film to date.

Just plain fun and also really strong in deeper meanings. Also, it really shows how far the guys at Pixar have come in their craft. The movie is absolutely gorgeous and the "camerawork" is stellar.

Painkiller

Ok, so most of you have heard of Zero Punctuation, if not, the go check it out now!

Don't keep reading, just do it!

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation

Ok? right, onto what this post is all about. Based soley on the Zero Puctuation review, and the fact that the game was only about ten bucks, I picked up a copy of Painkiller: Hell Wars (as it is called on the Xbox) and gleefully ran home to pop it in my Xbox to enjoy murdering tons of dudes.

Then after ten minutes i gave up becuase my Xbox apparently has AIDS and won't play any disc that isn't perfect and carries a certificate of authenticity.

So upon returing a movie to Hollywood video, I stopped by Gamecrazy to get the disc cleaned. Again I ran home gleefully looking forward to dude murdering and guess what,
Painkiller is Fucking Awesome!
That's right. it's so much fun, any FPS that plays this well on a console deserves a prize. the graphics are great and the gameplay is very straightforward, but the shining achievement is the weapon assortment.

You start with the Painkiller, as Yahtzee says, is basically for re-enacting the lawnmower scene from Dead Alive. But I prefer the Alt fire of the weapon that shoots forward the bladed claw and grabs the enemies by the whatever it hits first and yanks them to you (usually dismembering them in the process)

The I got a shotgun that also has the ability to turn enemies into ice, which you can then shatter for a very enjoyable explosion.

Still waiting to get the ElectroDriver though, that's the gun that shoots shurikans and lightning.

My favorite moment at the...moment is when you collect 33 souls. At that moment, you gain superpowers from God or something. The superpower can only be described as Murdervision. Everything goes black and white with the exception of enemies which glow red as if they were on fire. You simply one-hit-kill everything and they explode.

Pretty much the most fun FPS i've played.

(by the way, i don't really count Metroid Prime as a true FPS, as the majority of it, like most metroid games is action adventure platforming and exploration)

So, all of my bookmarks in Firefox have strangely dissappeared.

I can't for the life of me figure out how, or why, it happened or how to get them back, any ideas from other firefox users?
